Erian

WEB Christmas card more glitter

by Laura Knox, Options Now staff

This little gift turns 1 the day Options Now’s Christmas cards are going to be mailed.  As our supporters open envelopes and pull out photos of this beautiful little girl, she and her parents (and Options Now!) will be rejoicing & celebrating her first birthday.  Hers is a miraculous story, and there really is no way to fully comprehend the gravity of her life.

One year ago, Erian entered this world far too early.  Erian wasn’t due until April, but she was born in early December.  Let that sink in for a moment.  She was born prematurely at 21 weeks, 5 days.  Erian had a twin brother who passed away at birth, but the doctor who delivered the twins made a bold decision to pursue high level care for Erian, although she was technically below the traditional age of viability for preemies.  But Erian was life flighted to Macon, and against all odds…she survived.  Through the next months, Erian’s mom, Jaleesa, kept Options Now staff informed of her progress so we could continue to pray for her.  More than one monthly staff meeting ended with an update on Erian’s progress and we all rejoiced as she continued to improve.

Erian’s road has been long.  She spent a great deal of time in the NICU and even more time growing out of her feeding tube at home.  The process of growing a baby outside the womb who still needed several more months inside is not easy.  But God has been so gracious to Erian & her family.  And to see this beautiful little girl–to rejoice with her family that she has reached this huge milestone–that is a blessing to Options Now staff who cry many tears on behalf of patients.  Options Now staff believes in “rejoicing with those who rejoice” and “weeping with those who weep” (Romans 12:15).

As we celebrate this life, this picture of God’s grace, will you share Erian’s miraculous story with others?  Will you pray for her as she continues to grow and develop?  Will you help babies like Erian and parents like Jaleesa and Eric by donating to Options Now?  As Erian’s photo closes out our 24th year of ministry, we cannot wait to see all that God has in store for Options Now in 2016!
